Ed was one of the early Colorado \\\"giants\\\" in cancer research along with Ted Puck and a few others. As others have noted, he was one of the kindest and most engaging of the senior faculties in his mentoring of newcomers and trainees. His equanimity in facing his own struggle with cancer was inspiring to me as his physician and he will be deeply missed as a colleague and patient.
