John Joseph Berklacy was born April 5, 1932 in Bingham, UT to Josef and Mary (Pazell) Brkljacich. He passed from this life Friday, June 18, 2010 in Tulsa at the age of 78.

John received his Bachelor’s of Science degree and served four years in the US Navy during the Korean War. Upon his return, John met Barbara Jones and they were married 52 years. As an electronics engineer, he worked for Western Electric, Collins Radio and American Airlines. After his retirement, he worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block. John enjoyed travelling and restoring cars. He was a long-time member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church and the Heritage Sunday School Class.

John is survived by his wife, Barbara; their three children, Steve Berklacy and his wife, Lynn, Angela Sartin Hartung and her husband, Jeff Hartung and John Berklacy; their seven grandchildren, Steven and Allyson Berklacy, Phillip and Abigail Sartin, Maggie and Evan Hartung, Alex Berklacy; and three siblings, Frances Steven, George Berklacy and Rosalie Spitz; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 Monday, June 21, 2010 at Boston Avenue Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in John’s memory to the Boston Avenue Church Endowment Fund, 1301 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119.
