sSchool Days in Heart's Desire

When I was a little girl going to St Joseph's School in Heart's Desire , I was one of many students who frequented MRS. ANNIES ( as we so affectionately called her)to get a drink of water. Our school had no running water in those days, so if we asked the teacher if we could go for a drink of water she would say," ok go to Mrs. Annies and don't take too long". Most of the time we really didn't need the water , we just wanted to get a minute out of school. Mrs Annie lived very near the school. So you can imagine how many of us went to her door. I always enjoyed going to her door for the drink of water, always felt safe and knew that she would always have a smile for me, sometimes two or three of us would go the same time. It wasn't until long after I left home that I thought how good she was to all of us, she must have been tormented to death by the school being so near and our only source of water. She never once made me feel as if I was a nusance to her, I thought she must have been so busy with a house full of children to cook and care for along with all the rest of her work. Things like that we took for granted living in a small community. Now when I think of how much she contributed to my childhood school days and how she made a great memory for me I am thankful to her. The years went by so quickly and I never did get to tell her how much it meant to me so I just want her family to know how MRS. ANNIE , in her own way did so much for us and we do appreciate the safe place we had to go to, not much like these days. We were always close families over the years, there was just four of us compared to you guys , that was a very small family, but we all managed to hook up as close friends. Your Mother will always be with you in your hearts and in your souls, I know because my Mom is with me every day, I know we all miss the closenss of them talking to us,being there to guide us but we learn to accept what we already have in our hearts to keep us going. Now I have to say "THANK YOU MRS ANNIE ", I WILL NEVER FORGET MY SCHOOL DAYS IN HEART'S DESIRE, you were a big part of them.
