Obituary for Harold L. Cross

Harold L. Cross, 60, of New Boston, Illinois, died Thursday, August 25, 2005, at his home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. Sharon Phillips of Jesus Mission Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Troy Cross, Ralph Brewer, Rick Bodman, Matthew Harmon, Fred Failyer, Bill Failyer. Burial will be in the Drury Reynolds Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Jesus Mission. Visitation for Harold will be held on Monday, August 29, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Harold’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Cross family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Harold Louis Cross, Sr. was born December 19, 1944 in Eliza Township the son of Cook and Lillian (Weikert) Cross. On October 31, 1981, Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy Failyer in Memphis, Missouri. Harold worked at Bandag Plant 5 for 33-years, the Muscatine Journal for 2-years and West Liberty Foods for 3-years. Harold was a past member of the Eagles Lodge and enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, dancing on Saturday nights, country music and spending time with his family.

Harold will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy; his father, Cook Cross of New Boston; two sons, Harold Cross Jr. and Marvin Brockert and his wife, Jackie both of Muscatine; four daughters, Christy Cross and Tera Brockert and her husband, Scott both of New Boston, Sherry Cross of Muscatine and Kandice Blick and her husband, Joseph of Atalissa; 22 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and four brothers, Clarence and Kenny Cross both of Rock Island, Ronald Cross and his wife, Cindy of East Moline, and Richard Cross and his wife, Glenna of Bellvue, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Cross and one brother Lawrence Cross.
