Life Story for Christine Marie Oerton

OERTON, Christine M.Her incandescent smile dimmed forever on Friday, February 15, 2008 after a brave fight with cancer. Christine was the devoted mother of Colin, wife Elizabeth and grandchildren Santorri, Miles and Sydney of Philadelphia; Kevin, wife Andrea and grandchild Taylor of Waterloo; and Lisa, husband Patrick and grandchild Coral of Innisfil. Born in Cleveland in 1942, she came to Canada in 1963, moving to Timmins in 1965. In Timmins, she became an active member of the community, serving as President of the Timmins Real Estate Board from 1988 to 1989; President of the Kinette Club; recipient of the Heidelberg Award for Dedication to the Community, and a director of the Chamber of Commerce. Christine moved to Toronto in 1996, where she made many more friends, and became actively involved in the annual Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Her many friends will remember her shining smile, her generosity of spirit, her steadfast support of those in need, her sense of humor, her boundless energy and unending optimism. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME – A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20 with a service to follow at 3 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 20 Holly Street, Suite 101, Toronto, Ontario M4S 3B1.
