Obituary for Edwin Darrell Horn

Edwin Darrell Horn
Edwin Darrell Horn, of Sherwood, Oregon, lost his life to ALS, Lou Gehrig‘s Disease, on October 17, 2013. He was born in Malta, Idaho, in 1937, to Edwin and Thelma (Kossman) Horn, and was the great, great grandson of Richard Horn from Devonshire, England. He graduated from Burley High School in 1955, earned a B.S. in Geology from the University of Idaho in 1959, and began his career in exploration geology. After serving in the National Guard, he entered the Insurance industry and enjoyed thirty-eight years as an underwriter, manager, and administrator.

His special interests included archaeology, outer space, vegetable gardening, travel, friends, and especially camping and working on the family forest land in Northern Idaho, all of which energized his retirement years.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Denise, granddaughter Tamzin, son-in-law Adam, brother Richard, a nephew and two nieces, and many friends, coworkers, and neighbors, who will miss him very much.

There will be a memorial gathering at Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Wilsonville on Saturday, October 26. Please consider a contribution to the ALS Association, 700 NE Multnomah St., Suite 870, Portland, Oregon 97232, or visit webor.alsa.org.
