Sioux City - Robert C. Ibs, 87, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Crosspoint Church, with the Rev. Bob Schoenherr officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Robert was born Jan. 4, 1926 in Sioux City to Franz and Cecil (Onstodt) Ibs. He graduated from East High and Morningside College. He worked at Fairmont Foods and the last 30 years of his career at Blue Cross Blue Shield.
He married Sharon Vondrak on Aug. 12, 1978.
His fondest memories involved spending time with his cousin, Lavetta Midyett. He enjoyed traveling, camping, sitting around bonfires and snow-birding in Texas. He loved his animals, enjoyed walking the dogs, and most recently bonding with his friend, "Miss Kitty."
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ibs; stepchildren, Julie Vondrak-Scott, Jon Vondrak and Joy Vondrak-Lile; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
