Obituary for William Thomas Carter Jr.

Mr. William Thomas Carter, Jr., 79, of 200 Mark Lane, Smyrna, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Carter was born in Polk County on July 6, 1933, son of the late William Thomas Carter, Sr., and the late Molly McGregor Carter. He was also preceded in death on January 12, 2012 by his wife of 57 years, Ruby Runette Minshew Carter. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Plainville and was a retired auto body repairman. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Pamela McPherson, and her spouse, Dale, Smyrna; two sons, Douglas Carter, and his spouse, Chris Platt, Doraville and Scott Carter, Rockmart; 3 sisters, Mrs. Cathryn Dunagan, Powder Springs, Mrs. Velma Welchel, Cedartown, and Mrs. Beatrice Lombard, Rome; four grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with his nephew, Mr. Jimmy Welchel officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard extending military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Thursday from 11am until the service time. At other hours, they may be contacted at each of their respective residences.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
