Obituary for Nancy Eleanor Bevels (Hatch)

Nancy Eleanor  Bevels (Hatch)
Mrs. Nancy Hatch Bevels, age 71, of 4 Edgewood Drive, Lindale, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Bevels was born in Floyd County on May 6, 1941, daughter of Clifford Spencer Hatch and Daisy Frances Connell Hatch. She was a graduate of Pepperell High School, Class of 1959, where she was a member of the Beta Club and was a Varsity Football Cheerleader. Mrs. Bevels was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindale where she had served for several years as the Church Pianist. She was also a member of the Survivors Ladies Sunday School Class, served as a Children’s Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of the WMU. She enjoyed going on cruises and attending her high school reunions. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband around the United States during his 4 year tenure with the Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball organization making many enduring friendships.

Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Bevels, to whom she was married on November 19, 1960; a son, Kenneth Bevels, Atlanta; her parents Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Hatch, Rome; a sister, Mrs. Anne Troutman, and her husband, Greg, Pawley’s Island, SC; a special aunt, Mrs. Essie Free, Lindale; several nieces, nephews, and special friends, Mrs. Virginia Fair, and Mrs. Nancy Curry.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012, at 3pm at the First Baptist Church of Lindale with her Pastor, the Rev. Tim Burnham, and the Rev. Phil Blanton officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Cook conducting the graveside service. Mrs. Bevels will lie instate at the church on Sunday from 2pm until time for the service.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday from 5pm until 7pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Sunday at 2:30pm and include: Jackie Brooks, Charles Price, Johnny Brooks, George Bevels, Johnny Owens, and Rex Puckett.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
