The former Martha Ann Cook was born on July 15, 1928 in Spencer, Nebraska to the late Dean C. and Marie (Ziegler) Cook. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grade School in Beaver Dam, the valedictorian of the Beaver Dam High School class of 1946, and a graduate of Mount Mary College in Milwaukee class of 1950. On February 3, 1951, Martha was united in marriage with Richard F. Jacobs at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Martha was a quintessential homemaker; a loving wife, mother and grandmother. The death of her daughter Terese at the age of 17 was very hard on Martha, but being a strong woman, she persevered despite the devastating loss. She enjoyed baking, canning, sewing, quilting, and knitting. Martha loved having people to her house for parties and was a terrific hostess. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and had volunteered as a sacristan at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for 11 years.

Survivors include, her six children, Richard P. Jacobs of Beaver Dam, Mary M. Jacobs of Beaver Dam, Edward C. (Mary E.) Jacobs of Beaver Dam, Robert J. (Patricia) Jacobs of Freeport, Illinois, Paul T. (Julie) Jacobs of LaCrosse, and Anne M. (Mark) Heuer of Beaver Dam; ten grandchildren, Martha Terese Jacobs, Marie Naomi Jacobs, Edward Henry “Hank” Jacobs, Hannah Mary Heuer, Jacob Gordon Heuer, Emma Francis Heuer, Michael August Jacobs, Kathryn Ann Jacobs, Paul John Jacobs, and Michelle Theresa Jacobs; her sister, Anne Teletzke of Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Janice Jacobs of Brookfield and Mary Margaret Jacobs of Scottsdale, Arizona, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
