Surrounded by his loving family, Charles L. Frazier, 82, of Millheim, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his home.

Born on April 24, 1930 in Rebersburg, Charles was a son of the late Charles and Ruth Stover Frazier. On January 28, 1949 he married the former Ethel Musser who survives at their home.

Charles was employed in construction for Bethlehem Steel and then as a group leader for maintenance and operations at Penn State University. In 1962, he and Ethel purchased Bierly's Planing Mill in Millheim, which later became Frazier's Building Supply and Servistar Hardware. Charles retired from the business in 1987. Charles was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills. He was on the board of the Farmers' National Bank, which later became Peoples National Bank. He was also a board member of the Centre County Housing Authority for several years, a 22 year board member of the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority and a member of the High Top Gun Club for more than 55 years. In the fall of 2008, Charles achieved the Pennsylvania Grand Slam by harvesting a black bear, a gobbler with an 11 inch beard and an 8-point buck. He was a member of the Millheim Lions Club, where he held various offices and served on numerous committees. He served on the Board of Directors of the Beacon Lodge Camp for the Blind. Charles was a Guiding Lion for the West Union Lions Club. He also served as District Governor and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Charles supported his local community by serving on the Millheim Borough Council for several years and he was a longtime coach of the Millheim Little League. Last, but certainly not least, Charles was a blood drive volunteer for several years.

In addition to Ethel, Charles is survived by one daughter, Jo-Ann Parsons, of State College; one son, Larry Charles Frazier(Deb) of Centre Hall; four grandchildren, Craig Albert Parsons (Jill) of Phoenix, AZ., Derrick Ryan Parsons (Jen) of Pleasant Gap, Brad Frazier (Steph) of Stephens City, VA., and Meghan Dawn Frazier of Harrisburg; six great grandchildren, Zach, Caden and Mallory Parsons of Phoenix, Sophia Parsons of Pleasant Gap, and Dylan and Rachel Frazier of Stephens City. Also surviving is one sister, Betty Benner of Centre Hall, and a half-sister Kathryn Spayd, of Spring Mills. Charles was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Albert G. Parsons; two sisters, Phyllis and Frances; two brothers, Marshall and William, along with six half-brothers and three half-sisters.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Nathan Pile officiating. Charles will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charles may be given to the New Hope Lutheran Church, 119 Cobblestone Court, Spring Mills, Pa. 16875 or to Home Nursing Agency, 450 Windmere Dr., Ste. 100, State College, Pa. 16801 or to the American Cancer Society, 123 S.
