Obituary for Diane Marie Gladwin (Svec)

Diane M. (Svec) Gladwin, 62, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died October 14th, 2007, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, after an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Jeremy Hudson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl; her son William (Cindy) Wilson of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Bonnie (Todd) Tarker of Oceanside, California; her stepsons, Dean Gladwin of Chicago, Illinois, and Scott Gladwin and friend Denise of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Julie Ritchie and fiancé, Doug of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Halas and Denton Wilson; step-grandchildren, Shane, Laura and Jesse Tarker, Sarah and Emily Ritchie and Liam Gladwin; brothers, Melvin (Jody) Svec and Verne (Virginia) Svec of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Louellen Svec of Swisher; brother-in-law, Vaughn (Peg) Gladwin of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Trixie.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Louis and Barbara Svec; her brother, Arnold Svec; and her niece, Julie Svec.
Diane Marie Svec was born October 17, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Barbara (Pospisil) Svec and grew up in rural Fairfax. She attended LaBelle country school and graduated from Prairie High School in 1963. She married Wilbur Wilson and was later divorced. She was united in marriage to Daryl Gladwin in 1990. Diane was employed at Aegon for over 20 years, was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Post #671, Swisher Iowa and enjoyed gardening, polka music, playing cards and above all time spent with her family and friends.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, Babi, grandmother, aunt and friend to many and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her dearly.
Diane’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to Amber, Jessie and Jeremy from St. Luke’s Hospice and the entire staff of the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House for all their kindness and care during her illness.
