Obituary for Robert Dombroski

Robert C. Dombroski passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at his home in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 74. Robert was born on December 29, 1937 to Charles and Brona (Roski) Dombroski in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

As a young boy Robert attended school in Wilkes-Barre and graduated from Meyer’s High School with the class of 1957. After graduation he enlisted in the Army and served his country from 1957 until 1960. He was united in marriage to Janet Cooley on December 20, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. They were blessed with four children, Richard, Darlene, Robert and Dianne. Robert worked in construction for Schult Mobile Home for 37 years. Robert and his family operated the Sky-Vue Drive-In and the Moore Theatre in Plainville for many years.

Robert was a New York Yankees and Notre Dame sport’s fan. He loved baseball all his life. He enjoyed watching it on television and watching his grandchildren play it. Robert loved his family and the many family gatherings they had together. The grandchildren were very special to him. He played ball with them, took them to the park and would even wrestle around with them. He loved his wife Janet for over fifty-three years. They enjoyed traveling together and their evening walks.

He was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Janet; two sons, Rick Dombroski of North Las Vegas, NV and Bob Dombroski and wife Connie of Hill City; two daughters, Darlene Norall and husband Steve of Southlake, TX and Dianne VanPatten and husband David of Christiana, TN; 7 grandchildren, Travis Carswell, Trenton Dombroski (Heather), Jessie Thompson (Matt Randall), Lacey Runge (Dan), Brandon Norall, Christina Allen (Eric) and Matthew McDonald; four great-grandchildren, Clark Randall, Tristin Carswell, Meghan Adams and Lukas Allen; brother, Henry Dombroski and wife Joanne of San Carlos, CA; three sisters, Dorothy Edwards of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Florence Williamson of Lexington, KY and Lorretta Partington and husband G.R. of Lancaster, PA.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents, Charles and Brona; brother Charles Dombroski and infant brother Robert; and sister, Geraldine Powell.

A celebration of life Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Joshua Werth officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9: 00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 p.m.
