LITTLE FALLS-Mrs. Kathryn Chlus, age 93, of Myers Road, (town of Fairfield) passed away on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2009 in the comfort her home. At the time of her passing, she had the support of her loving family by her side. She was born in the country of Belarus, on November 15, 1915, daughter of the late Peter and Seraphima Batiushko. She was married to Seweryn “Sava” Chlus in 1934 in Duboj, Belarus; a devoted union of over 60 years until his passing on October 19, 1995. The couple came to the United Sates in 1949 and settled in Pennsylvania. They came to this area in December of 1952 and operated Chlus family farm for many years. She was a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, East Herkimer. Mrs. Chlus is survived by her beloved family; two sons and daughters in law: Mitch and Mary Jane Chlus and Fred and Charlotte Chlus, all of Little Falls; her cherished grandchildren: David and Debie Chlus of Little Falls; Melissa and John Rasnick of Chester, Virginia, Daniel and Norma Chlus of Highland,Steven and Liane Chlus of Newport, Cynthia and James Clayton of Burlington, North Carolina; sixteen adored great grandchildren and she is also survived by a niece and nephew: Martha and George Chopchic of New Hartford. Her family was the focus of her true devotion, from her husband to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The Chlus family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday (TODAY), September 18, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. Parastas service will be offered at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Chlus' funeral will commence at 9 am on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from the Enea Family Funeral Home and at 9:30 am from Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, East Herkimer with the Rev. James Worthington officiating. Funeral procession will follow to Holy Trinity Monastery Cemetery, Jordanville, where interment will take place. In lieu of floral offerings, kindly consider memorial offerings to Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church Memorial Fund; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Father James Worthington of Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church who remained close to Kathryn and her family, providing peace, comfort, security, and religion at such a difficult time. They are also extremely grateful to the many relatives and friend who offered kind acts of sympathy during this difficult time and also to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for their kindness and compassion offered during Kathryn's illness.
