Obituary for Kenneth Kirby Lankford

Funeral service for Mr. Kenneth Kirby Lankford, 74, of Etoile, Texas will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 10:00 am at Alco Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Young officiating. Burial will follow at Hans Cemetery.

Mr. Lankford was born on July 17, 1936, in Redland, Texas to the late Harvey James and Mattie Idell Brookshire Lankford. He passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Nacogdoches.

Kenneth had worked for Massengill Meat Market in Lufkin as a butcher for many years. He loved to vacation in Colorado, Branson and Arkansas. He was good with his hands. Woodworking was a passion for him having built 3 houses. He also enjoyed building bird houses, walking sticks, Christmas decorations, doll houses, toys and windmills. He was a wonderful husband and step-father and will be missed by those closest to him.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Willie Vee Batson Lankford of Etoile; step-daughter, Cinde Edwards of Colmesneil; step-granddaughter, Jamie Langlinais and husband, James of Huntington; three step-great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Farrell and Harlie Langlinais of Huntington; two sisters, Dorothy Beene and Wille Mae Loving both of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Marie Lankford of Dallas; bro-in-law, Gene Pfieffer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and good friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Lankford, A.J. Lankford, and Larry Lankford and one sister, Linda Pfieffer.

Pallbearers will be James Thompson, Jeff Lankford, Bryce White, Bob Havard, James Langlinais and Louis Meschwitz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Burnaman, Gunnar Havard, Quentin White, Luke White and Nolan White.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011, from 5-7 pm at Alco Baptist Church.
