Obituary for David L. "Uncle Bud" Johnston

David L. “Uncle Bud” Johnston, 81, of Center Township, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2007 in Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township.
A lifelong Monaca/Center resident, Bud was born August 25, 1925, a son of the late David and Hazel (Hill) Johnston. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Force who was first stationed in Germany and later, in Korea. A retired laborer, he was a member of the Construction and General Laborers Union Local 833. His favorite pastime was fishing.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth Burns Johnston, of Freedom; three sisters, Betty Keefer, of Tionesta; Helen Biskup, of Center Township, and Mary Kosto, of Monaca; three daughters, Eleanor James and her husband, Lloyd, and Shelda Sayson and her husband Vince, all of Freedom, and Cindy Wagner and her husband Dennis, of Beaver Falls; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Staier Johnston, and a brother, Russell Johnston.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. The Reverend A. Patrice Weirick, pastor of the Van Kirk Lutheran Church, Center Township, will officiate.
Interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Friendship Ridge, Annex 2, for the exemplary care Bud received.
Military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
