Shannon Murray

Shannon John Murray, 55, left this earth on April 27th, 2017, in Rutland at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was a resident at Rutland Health Care and Rehabilitation (Genesis) for the past year. He was born on October 4, 1961 in Proctor, the son of John Rockwell and Helen (Belock) Murray. Shannon graduated from Otter Valley Union High School in 1981. He has always been eager to work and as a youngster he could be seen pulling his wagon around Brandon, looking to help neighbors and friends, especially elderly neighbors who needed their walks cleared or their leaves raked. He has been employed by various Rutland grocery stores and worked for many years at the Rutland Herald. He also worked for Hinkle and McCoy and later for Naylor and Breen. Shannon had been a member of the Brandon and Pittsford Volunteer Fire Departments and belonged to many other groups and organizations to numerous to mention. He is survived by his three sisters, Maxine Kimball and her husband Wally of Salisbury, Carol and her husband Scott Williams of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ava and her husband Raymond Campeau of Whitehall, NY, as well as four nieces and three nephews. Shannon was predeceased by his parents. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandon, VT in the family burial plot at a later date.
