Carolyn Dykeman

Carolyn (Donlon) Dykeman, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at VNA Respite House in Colchester. Carolyn was born on August 4, 1930 in Clinton Corners, NY daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Robbins) Donlon. Carolyn was married to Roy Dykeman for 66 years until his passing on December 2, 2014. Carolyn had a passion for knitting from hats to mittens to socks. Many of these items were donated to the mitten tree while others were lovingly made as gifts for her children, grand children and great grandchildren to cherish. Her great grandchildren always looked forward to a new hat. Carolyn also loved baking, especially during the holiday season where she would be found handing out her peanut butter cookies topped off with a Hershey’s Kiss to her two grandsons even, as grown men they looked forward to getting those. In her younger years you would find her at the bowling alley or volunteering. She had also been a food demonstrator at Costco. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Kathleen Goodale and husband Lee of Burlington; two grandsons Brian Goodale and wife Tracy and their children Gavin and Mackenzie all of Colchester; Bradley Goodale and Mindy Vincent and children Riley, Kyle, and Connor all of Barre; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Pillsbury Manor Gazbo Apts for the care they provided Carolyn while she was a resident there. Also the Respite house who provided such care and comfort to her and our family. Per Carolyn’s wishes services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the McClure Miller VNA Respite House, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446.
