Mrs. Dorothy Brooks Smith, age 85 of Erin, TN, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Benny Torres officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Smith family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday afternoon. Dorothy entered this life on March 6, 1932 in Houston County, TN, daughter to the late Dossie Elvis “Jake” Brooks and Maggie Gertha Breeden Brooks. Dorothy spent her time loving her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was known for her wonderful cooking. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Austin Smith; brothers, Gene Brooks, Ray Brooks, and sister, Katherine Harry. Survivors include her loving children, Wanda Lockhart, Carl Smith; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Barnes, Chuck Strech, Tony Markin, Blake Smith, Trent Smith, Tony Brooks, Brandon Brooks, Aidan Markin, and Kenny Breeden. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Smith, Brian Lockhart, Dustin Lockhart, Jerry Beechum, Dickie Marable, James “Buck” Smith, Jeff Smith, and the Erin Police Department.
