Marilyn S. Keister, 79, Mifflinburg Marilyn Sauers Keister, 79, of White Springs Road, received her life’s reward from her Lord at 8:36 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, after several months of illness. She was born September 30, 1932, in Mifflinburg, the younger daughter of the late James B. and Rachael Long Sauers. She celebrated 59 years of marriage with Stanley F. Keister on March 22, who survives. Marilyn graduated from Mifflinburg Area High School, Class of 1950. Marilyn was a full-time farm wife and homemaker. She was employed by the Department of Public Assistance for a few years, and later by the Mifflinburg Farm Supply. She also taught piano lessons to her five granddaughters and other students from her church and the community. She was an active and committed leader in her congregation, Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, PA. For many years she led the Christian education and worship ministries, serving as children’s Sunday school director, adult education director, and children and adult choir director. She served as the congregation’s lead organist for 57 years. She also served several volunteer leadership positions with the Southern PA District of the Church of the Brethren, and as a delegate to the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference. Marilyn was a volunteer at the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, wintering in Florida, reading, quilting and other hand crafts. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is also survived by a daughter, Sharon K. and husband Jim Williams, Norristown; a son, Brian and wife Donita, Mifflinburg; five granddaughters, Rebecca, Danielle, Jamie, Nicole of Mifflinburg, and Mary and husband James Gorham of McSherrystown; and one sister, Barbara L. Hall of Columbia, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven G. Gehman. Friends and relatives will be received from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, at Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Route 45, west of Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m., with Pastor Matthew Christ, Pastor Donita Keister, and ordained minister Sharon Williams, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the building fund of Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Road, Mifflinburg, PA 17844. Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
