Edmond Daniel (Dan) Gough passed away on June 21, 2017 in Independence, MO. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior, both at Remnant Church, 2820 M-291 Frontage Road. Inurnment will take place at MO State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville at a later date. Contributions may be made to the church in his honor. Dan was born on August 23, 1928 to John A. Lee and Icy H. (Williams) Gough in Limestone County, Texas. He lived in Bryan, Texas from 1936 until 1995, when he moved to Independence. He served in the U.S. Army, and was co-partner and salesman with his brother, Bill, of a car dealership in Bryan for many years. Dan married Mary Ruth Canady on May 1, 1948, and they were married for 69 years. They had four daughters, Sharon Oldaker, Judy Joiner, Danna Gough and Janis Lero. He was a member of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a Patriarch in the church since 1984. Dan is preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, Rupert, Malcolm, Bill and James Gough and by his daughter, Judy Joiner. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Mary, three daughters Sharon Oldaker of Temple, TX, Danna Gough and Janis Lero and her husband Frank of Independence, MO. Survivors include nine grandchildren: Jeff Wise and wife Denise, Janel Lowrance and husband John, Jennifer George and husband Philip, April Dean and husband Steve, Keana Frey and husband Josh, Daniel Strohmeyer and wife Rebel, Mary Ivey and husband Curt, Sarah Humphrey and Jim Lero and wife Mandi and seventeen great grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister-in-law, Dolma Gough, two nieces and a nephew and seven great nieces and nephews. Dan loved his family dearly and had many close friends he also considered family. He was happiest at gatherings with as many of them as possible. He loved to sing and along with his daughters spent many hours providing enjoyment with their music. He gave the best hugs!
