Robert J. Jeffery Dracut, Massachusetts Obituary

Robert J. Jeffery

DRACUT, MA - Robert J. Jeffery, 69, died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 21st. He was the beloved husband, soulmate, and best friend of 45 years to Anne L. (Contardo) Jeffery. Bob was born in Lowell, MA on March 12, 1948 to the late Clara (Gravel) and Robert Kerr Jeffery. He was the eldest of their seven children and lived in Dunstable, MA for many years. Bob graduated Lowell High School in 1966 and then joined the Army. He served two tours of combat duty in the Vietnam War where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze Star with V for valor for putting his life on the line for his brothers in arms. Bob worked at EMCOR in the maintenence department at the Moakley Court House in Boston where he was known for his strong work ethic and sense of humor. He also spent many years working for Matley Plumbing and Heating in Pepperell, MA. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, shooting (he was a member of the Centervile Sportsman's Club), and eating the hottest peppers he could find. An expert plumber, he could often be found working in the homes of friends and family. He was an avid fan of both opera and country music. Bob's diverse tastes and love of science made him both wickedly smart and wonderfully funny. "He brightened up every room he walked into," said Anne, "he became a friend to everyone he met." Along with his wife, Anne, Bob is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Lee Jeffery, who was his fishing and shooting buddy. He was her hero and she will never know his like again. Rebecca lives in Dover, NH with her fiancé, Anthony E. Dow and Bob's grandson Hayden A. Dow. He is further survived by his siblings, Carol Smith and her husband Michael of Delaware, John Jeffery and his wife Claire of Royalston, MA, James Jeffery and his wife Dessie of Pepperell, Joanne Lavoie and her husband Ronald of Nashua, NH, William Jeffery and his wife Terry of Merrimack, NH, and Rosemary Sanborn and her husband Donald of New Boston, NH; sisters-in-law Denise Snyder and her husband Richard of Lowell, MA, Collette (Dion) Horgan of Pelham, NH, Lisa Bissonnette and her husband Ed of Bolton, MA; brother-in-law Paul Contardo and his wife Gayle of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on SUNDAY, June 25th from 1 - 5 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave, Dracut.
