John A. Murray

DRACUT, MA- John A. (Jack) Murray, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Palm Center Nursing Home in Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen C. (Enwright) Murray, with whom he celebrated many years of marriage prior to her passing in 1995. Born in Lowell on May 27, 1929, he was a son of the late William and Elsie (Fitzgerald) Murray. John was a graduate of Lowell High School, and went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, John worked as a Printer for both the Courier Corp. and Mitre Corp. John is survived by and will be deeply missed by his six children, Sharon and her husband Leonard, John A. Murray Jr., Rev. Robert W. Murray, Mary E. Tweed, James M. Murray and his wife Donna, and George J. Murray. and his fiancee Laurie. Jack was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, Steffany, Shaun, Pamela, Ryan, Kyle, Jennifer, and Adam . He was thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Jason, Johnny, and Abe. John lived at the Dracut Elderly Housing for many years. He loved his apartment and the many friendships he developed there. John especially loved the Friday cribbage league at the Dracut Senior Center. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, William P. Murray, Jr., and Robert L.Murray. John lived at the Palm Center Nursing Home in Chelmsford during his final months. Our family is so grateful for the wonderful care and many kindnesses that were extended to our father and our family during this difficult time ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 2-5 p.m. on SUNDAY, June 25, 2017 at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, MA 01826. His Funeral will be held from the funeral home on MONDAY, June 26, 2017 at 9 a.m. with his Funeral Mass directly following at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, Lowell. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury.
