Kenneth Walter Krouse

Kenneth Walter Krouse, 74, of Taneytown, Maryland died June 21, 2017, at his home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle against cancer. Ken was the loving husband of Linda Krouse for 47 years. Ken was born on March 4, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late Walter and late Mildred Krouse. He is survived by his brother David Krouse and sister Nancy Krauss. Ken served 20 years as the Chief of Police for the University of Maryland College Park Police Department, retiring in 2009. Prior to this, he served 22 years with the Baltimore County Police Department retiring as a Major. With the Baltimore County Police Department, Ken served as patrolman, K9 officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Detective, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major. He was an active member of the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association, serving as President in 2002. Ken is survived by his children, Scott and Jeanne Legore, Michael Krouse, Steven and Jennifer Krouse, Scott and Rosa Krouse and thirteen grandchildren, Shawn Jaret, Stacie Wallace, Brandon Krouse, Kimberly Swanson, Deanna Krouse, Haley Krouse, Taylor Krouse, Olivia Krouse, Elena Krouse, Zoe Mace, Sophie Mace, Maia Mace and Bella Mace. Services will be conducted at the Burrier Queen Funeral Home 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High) on Tuesday, June 27, at 1 pm with Reverend James Hamrick presiding. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville. The family will receive friends at Burrier Queen Funeral Home from Monday, June 26 between 2 - 4pm and 6 - 9pm. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the families of Fallen Police Officers through the PAR fund, c/o Baltimore County Police Department, Personnel Section, 700 East Joppa Road, Towson, MD 21286.
