Norman Rosene

Norman F. Rosene, 92, of Independence, Iowa formally of Rowley, IA died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Norman was born on July 7, 1924 in rural Walker, IA, the son of Lawrence W. and Hulda A. (Thedens) Rosene. He graduated from Rowley High School in 1941, and went on to marry the love of his life; Shirley J. Grant on March 30, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Independence, IA. The couple made their home in rural Rowley, IA where he operated a dairy farm. He began working for Rockwell Collins in 1966 for 23 years until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed traveling the United States with his wife, and spending winters in Port Aransas, TX. He is survived by his three children; Bruce (Cathy) Rosene, Rowley, IA, Lynnette (Marshall) Lantz, Cedar Falls, IA, and Connie (Ron) Bergman, Cedar Rapids, IA. Five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a brother Ben Rosene, Bloomington, MN, and many nieces and nephews Norman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Rosene, and two sisters Vanda Hanna and Elaine Oles. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA, with Rev. Lisa Thedens officiating. Inurnment will be in Rowley Cemetery, Rowley, IA. Friends may call from 9 AM to services Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Rowley Presbyterian Church 212 Park Ave, Rowley, IA 52329.
