Pauline Jean (Johnson) Wiggins, 67, of Hartford, CT, departed this life Tuesday, June 20, 2017 peacefully after a seventeen year battle with cancer. Pauline was born in Meriden, CT on December 20, 1949, to the late Gilbert L. and Jean (Cummings) Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Hartford, CT. Pauline was the first female exterminator with the New Britain housing authority. She worked for New Britain legal aid, taught keyboarding in Tacoma WA, and ended her career with Raymond Engineering. Pauline attended Plainville High School. Pauline’s first love was her family, and was affectionately known as ‘Grandma’ by everyone in the neighborhood. Pauline loved horror movies, classic movies, and was a lover of cats. She enjoyed R&B and gospel music and was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Pauline will forever be remembered and cherished by her loving and devoted family: her two sons William Jerry (Brenda) Wiggins of Middletown, CT, Curtis (Eva) Wiggins of Ellington,, CT, her daughter Gina (Ralph) Graham of Hartford, CT, her two sisters Kathrine (John) Robinson of Port Charlotte, FL, Sandra Johnson of New Britain, CT. her nine grandchildren: Tyreka, Isaiah, Brianna, Joshua, Jordan, Jeralyn, Jason, Michael and Alexander, her two great grandchildren Harmonie and Amiah, a host of nieces, nephews, stepmother Gladys Johnson and stepsister Sondra Davis of Port Charlotte FL, stepbrothers Michael (Julie) Davis of Meriden, CT and Eddie Davis of East Hartford, CT, and family and friends whom were blessed to know her and will fondly remember her. In addition to her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her brother, Gilbert L. Johnson, Jr. and her ex-husband William J. Wiggins, Sr. The family wants to thank the wonderful people who gave such great care for Pauline in her time of need both at home and at the Hebrew Hospital, West Hartford, CT and Masonic Care of CT. Homegoing celebration for Pauline will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT with the Rev. William D. Wilson, presiding. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 – (Fienemann Rd) right off exit – one mile down on right. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Pauline Wiggins’ memory to Hebrew Hospital, 1 Abrahms Blvd, West Hartford CT 06117, or the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, 80 Seymour St. Hartford, CT 06102.
