Carl Rais

Carl Rais, 92, of Windsor, CO passed away on June 9, 2017 at Columbine Commons in Windsor. He was born on January 22, 1925 in Cincinnati, OH to Charles and Alice (Storer) Rais. Carl was orphaned at an early age, during the depression, and grew up in the Cincinnati area. He finally settled on a foster farm until the age of 16. In 1942, at the age of 17, Carl joined the U.S. Navy and was in World War II. In 1947, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army until 1973 and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. On January 2, 1960, Carl married Betty Kuyper in Cincinnati. Carl enjoyed working in his yard, a Saturday afternoon matinee (preferably a western) and cooking out in his backyard. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Man’s Association and the VFW. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Robbins of California; sons, Robert Rais of Colorado Springs, CO, David (Marcia) Rais of Hudson, OH, and Michael (Kim) Rais of Windsor; and grandchildren, Connor and Evan Rais. Family and friends are invited to participate in Carl’s Life Celebration at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at Good Samaritan Water Valley Senior Living Resort, 805 Compassion Drive, Windsor, CO 80550. Memorial contributions may be made in Carl's name to "Boys Town" or “Weld County Honor Flight” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue Greeley 80634.
