Obituary for Albert Jungmeyer

Albert J. Jungmeyer of Sun City, Arizona pased away on March 19, 2004 after a brief illness. Al was born July 7, 1926 in Beatrice, NE, the son of Rev. Albert F. and Irene Jungmeyer and elsest of four children. His childhood was spent in varioius parishes througout Nebraska.Al joined the Navy at age 18 and served in WW II as a gunners mate 2nd class, upon discharge he completed his high school degree in Fort Collins, CO. In 1949, he met and married the two loves of his life, Cara Lee Waldron and her daughter Cheryl. Until the day he died, his famly was the most important part of his life.Al and Cara Lee resided in Fort Collins for 50 years with the exception of one year in Butte, Montana, where he was an Assistanc Manager of Montgomery Wards. During the last 34 years of Al's working career he was employed at First National Bank, retiring as a Vice President in the Loan Division.Afer celebrating their 50th anniversary in 1999, Al and Cara Lee retired to Sun City to begin a new "more" active phase of their lives. Their motto has always been "We're still having fun." Those who knew Al knew that his passions were antique cars and traveling, usually combing the two passions on car tours across the United States. They also enjoyed numerous trips to different countries.While living in Colorado, Al was an active member of many service organizations and belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, Masonic Lodge, and El Jebel Shrine. Car clubs included: El Jebel Shrine Auto Patrol, Antique Automobile Club of America, and The Veterans Motor Car Club of America. He was also an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.After moving to Sun City in 1999, Al became involved in Prides Volunteers of Sun City, American Legion, El Zaribah Shrine, High 12 Club, The Veterans Motor Car Club of America, Antique Automobile Club of America, C.A.R.S. Club of Sun City and an active member of American Lutheran Church of Sun City.Al is survived by his loving family, wife, Cara Lee, daughter, Cheryl, son-in-law, Don, grandchildren, Dave and Nichole, grandson-in-law, Frank and three great grandchildren, Marcu, Tia and Zadia, his brother Wallace Jungmeyer and sister-in-law, Pat of Fort Collins, sister, Joan Morris and brother-in-law Tom of Sun City. There are many nieces and nephews along with all of his "adopted" children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved and was loved by all of his extended family.A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart St., Fort Collins, CO. Pastor Jim Rasmussed will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 28, 2004 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Rd., Fort Collins, CO. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, CO.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
