Joseph Kuhn

Green Valley, Arizona — Joseph W. Kuhn, Major, USAF (ret) age 92, passed peacefully on Friday, May 5th at the Southern Arizona VA Hospital where he was blessed with outstanding care. Maj. Kuhn leaves his wife of 66 years, Joy (Ludwick) Kuhn of Green Valley, four sons: Michael (Trisha) (Arvada, CO) and children Michael J., Erik and Krista; Robert (Linda) (Tucson) and children Geoffrey, Matthew and Sarah; Daniel (Mary) (Tucson) and children Todd, Rebecca and Joseph; and William (Lalita) (Tucson) and children Dustin, Kim and Deanna, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Joe grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY, the youngest of four children of Daniel and Anna (Geisler). He learned to work on cars from his father and used those skills when he enlisted in the Marines at age 17. Joe served with squadron VMB-433 in the South Pacific. Joe earned his high school diploma after the war and then went to college in Colorado where he met and married Joy Ludwick in Denver on June 15, 1951. After earning his degree and working in the civilian world Joe entered active duty in the Air Force in 1961. He retired in 1978 and returned to Tucson where he was previously stationed, and then moved to Green Valley in 1994. Joe and Joy traveled the country visiting all 50 states. He enjoyed time with his expanding family and he loved to fish streams in the mountains. A service honoring Joe will be held Thursday May 18, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at Marana where he will be interred.
