Penny Gowing

Penny Gowing

nee Boehm

1958 - 2008

Passed away at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, early morning of Friday, June 27, 2008, of cancer at the age of 49.

Penny was born in K-W, daughter of Betty and the late Edwin Boehm. She is survived by her devoted husband David, and her loving son, Joshua. Also survived by her mother, Betty Boehm and three sisters, Cheryl Strome, Heather Edmeades (Bruce), and Cindy Balfour (Allan). Dear daughter-in-law of Joyce and Cliff Gowing; sister-in-law to Peter, and Paul (Cindy) Gowing. She was the dear aunt of her niece Miranda Gent (Ryan) (and was soon to become great-aunt) and nephews, Brandon Strome, Sam Edmeades, Clayton and Joe Balfour, and Cole and Blair Gowing. Penny is also survived by many other family and friends.

Penny attended Elizabeth Ziegler and MacGregor Public Schools and KCI. She worked at BF Goodrich until she was stricken with severe arthritis, which plagued her for the rest of her life. Over the years she taught adults to read and she volunteered at Grand River Hospital and the Community Information Centre. She developed melanoma in 2007. She very much enjoyed her cottage at Tobermory, and spent as much time there as possible.
