Obituary for C. Reed Hoglund

C. Reed Hoglund, 84, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness. Memorial Services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Del Bear, with military honors. Friends may call from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two nephews, Jon (Mary Ann) Hoglund of Davenport and Robert (Rita) Hoglund of Franklin, Maine; a niece, Cathy (Lee) Fischer of Guttenberg; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ray and Don.

Reed was born November 24, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of William and Ruth (Walker) Hoglund. A Navy veteran of World War II, Reed served on the maiden tour of duty of the USS Midway. He was employed at Jubilee Bowling Center for many years. Reed was a member of Marion American Legion Post No. 298 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of many bowling associations and leagues. Reed especially enjoyed his time traveling with family and friends to bowling tournaments and casinos.
Military honors provided by Marion American Legion Post No. 298.

A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association.
