Condolence From: Marlene (Cosgrove) O'Rourke
Condolence: Bob and Sharon: I never knew Lois personally but my neighbor did and we walked together and would go by Lois' home in Marion and if she was out we would talk to her. She was a loving person and had a great picture of Jim in one of her rooms in her new home in Marion It looked just like him. Now they are together again. You have our prayers and sympathy. Condolence: Lois was a wonderful person. She and Judy (Moser) Swift were the most wonderful nurses anyone ever had when they worked together at Dr. Bennett's office. They helped us raise our sons! Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Bob and Shirley Parker

Condolence: My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Lois. She was a beautiful person whom will be greatly missed by many in the community of Cedar Rapids and Marion. Lois would always bring treats to us so that we could start an IV access for her. Along with that she always brought a smile and warm wishes. I was especially fond of being able to share crochet patterns with her, we would talk for extended periods of time about new patterns for baby blankets that we had seen or tried. I will greatly miss her.

Condolence From: Kay and Bob Lind
Condolence: What a sweet, kind and caring friend was Lois. We stopped to see her shortly before we came to Texas at the end of Dec. She was in her usual good spirits with hopes of getting home. She was a nursing classmate of mine and I always enjoyed meeting her along with other classmates at our monthly lunches. We'll miss her as we know her family will, also. Happy memories will keep her in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love Kay and Bob Lind

Condolence: Lois graduated with us from Marion High School, Class of 1955. We visited her just before Christmas in the Hiawatha Care Center. She was always glad to visit and a very pleasant person. It was good to have so many of our class together for our 50th reunion in 2005. Our Class always makes a donation to the Marion Independent Foundation and Alumni in honor of our classmates.

Condolence: Sharon---Last week I met your sister-in-law, Joanne, at the hospital coffee cart. She was looking for Beverly Wolfe Sather, a college roommate of Lois. I have known Bev for a long time, so shared with her that you and I were "suitemates" for a time at Mt Mercy. Joanne updated me on you and your family. We are still in our "starter" house on Brookland--along with Max and Helen Brown. Our kids are scattered around the country. Two are still unmarried and we are finally getting grandchildren. Still enjoy playing bridge with JoAnn B and others. I called her last week to tell her about Lois. My sympathy to you and your family on her passing.

Condolence: Darrell and Joanne, Wanda, Sharon and Bob - My sister, Luann called and told me about Lois when she saw her obituary in the paper. She had remembered that Lois and I had worked together many years ago. Little did she know that Lois and I went back even farther to Midland rural school near Anamosa. But it was the years for Dr. Sunner and Dr. Bennett that gave us all the good times. Jim and Lois and Leonard and I used to have a lot of fun together - lots of 500 played and meals shared. We waited for the call to become parents together - I think they beat us by just a few months. If I recall Carl and David are just a few months apart in age. I was sorry to hear that Lois had been ill for a long time. She was a very special nurse and person, and I learned a lot from her. The last time I saw her was after Jim had died and she was working at Mercy. We had a good visit catching up with our children and grandchildren. One thing I do remember about your family is how close you as siblings were - how much fun you had as couples and just being together. May those family memories give you strength at this difficult time. My prayers are with you. Sincerely Judy Moser Swift

Condolence: David and Brian and Families --- I am so sorry to hear of your mother's death. Lois and I worked together for Dr. Sunner and Dr. Bennett long before either of you were born. Matter of fact your parents and we were waiting to begin our families at the same time. We both had applied to adopt a baby, and we had such fun together planning for the beginning of our families. David, you were born just a few months before our Carl. I will never forget the call of joy I received from your mother telling us that they were going to go pick up their baby. After our boys were born, Lois and I used to meet to have coffee and let our boys play together. Such good memories. I was so glad to read that Lois had grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. I am sure you were all the loves of her life. May this and your loving memories give you comfort at this time. My prayers are with you. Judy Moser Swift

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of the death of Lois. Yet I know how she struggled over the last few months and now rejoices in a better place. I worked with Lois for many years at Mercy. She was a caring, competent nurse. I also saw Lois more recently as she came into the Treatment Center for her IVIG medication. She always had a smile. She spoke very fondly of her family and loved to travel to see ones who lived away. And she enjoyed making her beautiful crochet pieces to share with them. She led a good life, full of service and cheer. She has now found her reward. May her beautiful memories sustain you and bring you peace.
