Obituary for Elsie P. Vosmek

Elsie P. Vosmek, 95, of 1612 5th Street NW, died Monday, August 4, 2003, in her home, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Arnette Pint. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Mary Louise Condon, Darlene (John) Carter, Joan (Robert) Shields, Edward (Barbara) Vosmek, Cheryle (Larry) Steggall, Caryle Pazdernik (Roger Steggall) and Sandra Vosmek, all of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis; two brothers, Stanley Henderson and Robert Henderson; two sisters, Bernice Hickman and Thyra Nesset; her stepbrother, Clifford Adams; her stepmother, Olga Henderson; two half-sisters, Katherine Wiley and Jane Batikus; a granddaughter, Julie Vosmek; and a grandson, Scott Pazdernik.

Elsie was born March 7, 1908, the daughter of Roy and Lillian Emery Henderson, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1925, she was united in marriage to Louis Vosmek in Iowa City, Iowa. He died May 12, 1964. She loved spending time with her family and going to the casino. Elsie also enjoyed the company of her dogs, Quincy and Joey. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Elsie.
