Obituary for George Wilmont Lillie

George Wilmont Lillie, 82, of 4021 Flicker Lane, Hiawatha, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Gary Austin of Cedar Rapids Grace Brethren Church. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lillie of Hiawatha; a nephew, William "Bill” (Janet) Dallas, Jr. of New York City, New York; a niece, Dee Gibson of Los Altos, California; and a cousin, Dr. Steven (Louise) Mowrey of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Winifred Dallas and Gladys Lillie.

George was born June 14, 1923, the son of George and Helen (Irwin) Lillie, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On March 14, 1964, he was united in marriage to Ruth Nicholas at the Grace Brethren Church in Cedar Rapids. For many years, he was a photographer for Iowa Manufacturing Company and also owned his own wedding photography business. George enjoyed video taping, wire recording and listening to the Lum & Abner Radio Show. He loved pets, especially his three cats, Baby, Mommy and Lucky. George will be remembered as a very charitable man who donated to many causes.
