Obituary for Pauline A. Lyons
Pauline A. Lyons, 72, of Marion, died Sunday November 24, 2002, at the Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, James of Marion; her children, Clark Wiest of Pleasanton, Kansas, Robin Henderson of Davenport and Brian Wiest and wife Marlene of Overland Park, Kansas; her grandchildren, William Wiest of Madison, Wisconsin, Nicole Wiest of California, Bryce Henderson of Davenport, Ashley Henderson of Davenport, Shelby Wiest and Matthew Wiest, both of Overland Park, Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Heather and Holly Wiest of Madison, Wisconsin; two brothers, Marvin Young and wife Kathy of Cedar Rapids and David Young of Shellsburg; and two sisters, Sharla Kelly and husband Jerry of Cedar Rapids and Sharon Terry of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roy Wiest; a brother, Raymond Young; and two sisters, Eunice Mather and Joan Graves Starks.
Pauline was born January 26, 1930, in Iowa City, the daughter of Gaylord and Lillian (Waite) Young. Pauline married James Lyons at St. Joseph Parish in Marion on August 23, 1969. She worked at Butterfield Rayborn Electric for 10 years. Pauline enjoyed camping and fishing and was a member of a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed going to Florida every year for 3 weeks in the fall with her husband James. Pauline was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Marion. She loved spending time with her family and always had a good word to say about everyone. She rose every day with a smile on her face and loved life totally. She was a kindhearted and loving person to everyone she knew.
Memorial contributions may be made so Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa and directed to the Alzheimer’s unit there.
