Obituary for Lucille Uecker (Sohre)

Lucille A. Uecker, age 81, of Horicon, died Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Friends and family may call at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at church on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Jonathan D. Szczesny will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton, Dodge County.

The former Lucille A. Sohre was born on May 18, 1925 to the late Herman and Edna (Pagel) Sohre. She graduated from Horicon High School, class of 1943. On June 1, 1946, Lucille was united in marriage with Wallace W. Uecker at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon. Wally preceded her in death on July 12, 2003. Lucille worked at the hardware store in Horicon for several years and later she helped cater for Norma Macheel for over 15 years. Her love of music was evident in many ways. She played in an orchestra where she yodeled and played the Hawaiian guitar. She enjoyed polka dancing and she enjoyed Drum & Bugle Corps competitions. She enjoyed other things, as well, such as the Packers and the Badgers, she loved cats, and most of all, she loved to talk and visit with other people. Lucille was a life-long member of St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon and was a long-time member of the American Legion Post #157 Ladies Auxiliary in Horicon.

Survivors include her two daughters; Barbara (James) Kulkee of Lebanon and Debra (Alan) Watt of Waukesha, her six grandchildren; Tina (Luke) Krause of Beaver Dam, Trisha (Kyle) Sippel of Lebanon, Tiffany (Jason) Pekul of Janesville, Thomas Kulkee of Lebanon, Elizabeth (John) Bonnell of Davenport, Florida and Timothy Watt of Waukesha, her six great grandchildren; James, Dylan and Gabrielle Sippel, Orion and Mira Krause, and Alexander Pekul. Lucille is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law ; Raymond Uecker of Wittenberg, Dorothy Dobbratz of Hustisford, Elizabeth Maas of Watertown, Jean Uecker of Beaver Dam and Helen Uecker of Iron Ridge.

Mrs. Uecker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and great granddaughter, Mikayla Krause.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Lucille A. Uecker’s name to St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church or the American Legion Post # 157 Ladies Auxiliary in Horicon.
