Obituary for Doris M. Holtorf

Doris M.  Holtorf
Doris M. Holtorf, 83, of Loveland, passed away on September 2, 2010. She was born on November 19, 1926 in Sweet Springs, Missouri to Lester and Maude (Johnson) Halsey. In 1934 the family moved to Loveland, Colorado. Doris graduated from Loveland High School in 1944. She went to work for Civil Service at Lowry Air Force Base where she met and married Richard L. List. They had five children. Mr. List passed away in 1966. She lived in Denver until all the children left home. She worked for Travelers Insurance Company and Mountain States Bank until 1984. While working for Travelers Insurance Company, she met Hans J. Holtorf, Jr. of Gering, Nebraska. They were married in April 1984. Mr. Holtorf founded a law firm in Gering and practiced there until he retired in 1991. They moved to Loveland and enjoyed retirement until his death in 1992. Doris enjoyed her family and her home. Since the death of Mr. Holtorf, she did volunteer work at McKee and various other places. She was grateful for the years she had with Mr. Holtorf. They traveled extensively until his death. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Loveland. She is survived by daughters, April Klein and husband Bill of Yucaipa, California, Cathy Boettge and husband Jeff of Fort Collins, Colorado, Lisa Mann and husband Bruce of Loveland, Colorado; sons, Richard L. List, Jr. and wife Chris of Jamesville, New York, Thomas List and wife Jane of Fort Collins, Colorado; brothers, Maurice Halsey and wife Shirley of Loveland, Colorado; brother-in-law, Bill Burchett of Wakefield, Kansas; and 11 grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Maude Halsey; husbands, Richard List, Hans Holtorf; brother, Hugh Halsey; and sister, Ruth Burchett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 7 at Allnutt Funeral Service in Loveland. Inurnment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, Nebraska. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
