John F. "Chig" Lopez, 69, of Eaton, died on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the NCMC Hospice Inpatient Unit. He was born on May 16, 1941 in Eaton to Faustino and Petra (Desla) Lopez.John married Maria Archibeque on February 18, 1961 in Eaton.He was a truck driver for Agland and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He attended St. Peter's as well.John enjoyed fishing, watching the Eaton Reds, Rockies and Broncos. He loved to watch his grandchildren's sporting activities and his dog, Chico.Survivors include his wife Maria of Eaton, sons Eddie (Delia) Lopez of Greeley, Richard (Anna Jimenez) Lopez of Fort Collins, daughter Minnie Lopez-Padilla (Floyd) of Greeley, brothers Bobby (Esther) Lopez of Greeley and Pete Lopez of Compton, CA, sisters Isabel Meyers of OR and Patricia (Maggie) Gutierrez of Greeley, grandchildren including Mike Allmer of Eaton, Jackie Allmer of Fort Collins, Gina (Greg) Salazar, Jazmine, Natasha and Juan Lopez, Phillip (Sheila) Padilla, Dominique Padilla (Hugo Corro), Angel Padilla, Luis Romo, Esperanza and Alex Comacho and Rigoberto Perez-Pizano all of Greeley as well as 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Alex, Frank and Julian and 3 sisters Mary, Hope and Rachel. Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
