Rev. Raymond G.  Anger

Rev. Raymond G.. Anger, 85, of Shrewsbury, a former Southbridge native, died Thursday in UMass Memorial Healthcare.

Rev. Anger was born in Attleboro, son of George and Antonia (Boiteau) Anger and grew up in Southbridge. He is survived by cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Rita Anger. He graduated from Mary E. Wells H.S. class of 1941. He began his studies for the priesthood at St. Philip Neri College in Boston. He also studied Theology at Assumption College, the Seminary of Philosophy in Montreal, and the Grand Seminary in Montreal.

He was ordained at St. Paul's Cathedral in Worcester May 30, 1957 by Bishop John J. Wright. After his ordination he was assigned to St. Peter Church in Northbridge, Holy Name of Jesus in Worcester, St. Cecilia's in Leominster, Our Lady of the Rosary in Gardner, and served as pastor at St. Matthew's in Southborough, and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church

in Southbridge retiring June 18, 1993. Rev. Anger served as Chaplain of the DeTriana Council Knights of Columbus in Southbridge.

The funeral Mass for Rev. Anger will be Tuesday, Oct. 13th, at 11AM in Notre Dame Church 446 Main St. Southbridge. Bishop Robert J. McManus will be the principal celebrant. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery.

Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 12th, from 4-7PM at Notre Dame Church.

Bishop George E. Rueger will preside at the vigil service at 7PM.
