Chris Murphy passed away peacefully Monday evening, June 20, 2011 at the Hillcrest Extendicare in Calgary. Born January 5, 1921 in Williamstown, Ireland, Chris moved to Birmingham, England during World War II. She met and married Patrick (“Paddy”) Murphy there in 1948. In 1951, she bore them a son, Kevin Anthony Murphy. Chris was predeceased by her husband, Paddy in 1995. After his death, Chris immigrated to Canada to be closer to her son and his family. She was predeceased by all her brothers in Ireland and England. She leaves to mourn, her son, Kevin and his spouse Dan (Moulton), their children: Kristen (and Jordan Tronsgard), Heather (and Matt Brillinger); her special friend and niece in England, Beatrice Horne, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, as well as all her friends that she made upon her move to Canada – particularly those at Dana Village and St. Michael’s Catholic Community. Chris’ family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Extendicare, who so lovingly cared for her since last July (especially Donna and Anna on the second floor), her loyal friends from St. Michael’s parish (especially Yvonne and Art Beaubien), and her friends Willy Hallam and Sara Cross-Moulton who faithfully visited her and helped look after her style and clothing. Chris loved looking good, dressing well, and presenting herself at her best. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Community (800 - 85th St SW) on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM.
