FURRY, DIANNE (RN, BscN) – Born, September 1, 1941; Died June 16, 2011 at the Welland County Hospital in her 70th year. Predeceased by her parents Curtis and Helen Furry. She is survived by her brother John Furry (Judy) of Woodstock and sister Jean Hewis (David) of Whitby. Loving aunt of Jeffrey (Julie) of Chelsea, Québec; Colleen Clack Furry (Craig) of Guelph; Steven Hewis (Becky) of Burlington; Michael Hewis (Angie) of Rockwood; Philip Hewis (Stephanie) of Milton and Elizabeth Hewis (Dan Hulse) of Prince Albert. Proud great aunt of Leah, Grace, Kyla, Paige, Laurent, Élise and Benjamin. Miss Furry received her RN from the Mack Training School for Nurses in St. Catharines, ON and her BScN from Niagara University, Niagara Falls, New York. Her nursing profession took her to St. Catharines, Welland, Inuvik, NWT and Alert Bay, B.C. She retired from the Welland County General Hospital after 28 years in various Nursing Administration positions. She was a member of Port Colborne Baptist Church, and the Mack Alumni, and a sustaining member of the Stratford Shakespearean Festival of Canada. Dianne’s family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 with Rev. Robert Bond officiating in the Armstrong Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Overholt Cemetery, Bethel, ON. If so desired memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
