Born Jenny Margreta Loving at Sur Amsberg, Province of Dalarna, Sweden. Greta left there at the age of 16 in 1928 to join her oldest brother Maurice is in Vancouver, B.C. She made friends in a well established
Swedish community, where she met Olaf Johansson, her first husband. They had one daughter
Irma. Life was good until 1954 when Olaf died of heart disease. In 1956 she met John Bylsma, a
gillnet fisherman from Blaine, Washington. They married in 1959. Greta accompanied John on the boat to Alaska in the fishing season, and worked alongside him for many years. John passed in 1995 and Greta eventually moved to Stafholdt Assisted Living, where she stayed until her health worsened and finally she succumbed on May 28th at 3:15 a.m., with her daughter Irma by her side.
Irma and Bob Jones gave her three grandchildren Douglas (Diane), Steven (Donna) and Dan(HansThur) They each gave her 2 great-grandchildren, Carly, Alanna, Eric, Janice, Alex
and Lindsey.
Greta was also mother and grandmother to John's family, Ted( Janet Jennerjohs), grandchildren's Varyl, Tammy and Tyson and several great grandchildren. As well she has one niece and family in Seattle area and several nieces and nephews in Sweden. She was proceeded by all her brothers and sisters.
