Obituary for Menno E. Sommers

Menno E. Sommers, age 88 of Cochranton went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 surrounded by his family.

Born on August 16, 1922 in Middle Branch, Ohio a son of the late Eli I and Sarah (Schrock) Sommers. On March 27, 1945 he married Esther Zook who survives.

Menno was a retired minister and attended the Plainview Mennonite Church, Guys Mills. He had a love of the woods having retired as a logger after 36 years of logging.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, 4 sons, Mervin Sommers and his wife Lois of Jonesville, Michigan, Ervin Sommers of Polk, Loren Sommers and his wife Esther of Hartville, Ohio and Willis Sommers and his wife Deann of Cochranton, 1 daughter Beulah Reynolds and her husband Maurice of Meadville., 2 sisters Sarah Lockridge and her husband Bob of Okeechobee, Fl. and Susan Turner and her husband Ervil of Montgomery, Alabama. 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Ida Mae Sommers, a son Raymond Sommers and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 1:30 pm at the Pleasantview Mennonite Church, County Line Road, Cochranton with Homer Zook officiating. The interment will follow at the Pleasantview Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00.
