Obituary for Mary Ann Holldorf (Buell)

Mary Ann Holldorf (Buell)
Mary Ann Holldorf, 72, of Sterling, died July 29, 2010, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann was born in Morrison, Illinois on September 13, 1937, the daughter of Creighton Sam and Florence Pearl Buell. She was united in marriage to Lloyd D. Holldorf on June 12, 1955 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.
Mary Ann rarely missed a sporting event or school function in which her children participated. She thoroughly enjoyed the players on their teams, and occasionally enjoyed booing the umpires. For a number of years, Mary Ann volunteered her time working at the gift shop at Community General Hospital in Sterling. In recent months, she spoke often as to how deeply touched she was by the generous outpouring of friendship and support provided by her close friends.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd; her three children, Mark Holldorf of Sterling, Shane (Brenda) Holldorf of Sterling, and Jason (Karie) Holldorf of Bartlett; eight grandchildren, Daesha, Nicholaas, Emily, and Abigail Holldorf of Sterling, Ashley Sutton of Sterling, and Madelin, Jackson, and Creighton Holldorf of Bartlett; one sister, Peggy (Marvin) Kramer of Garden Prairie; and two brothers, Larry Lewis and Bruce Buell.
She was preceded in death by her father, Creighton, mother, Florence, brother, Ed Buell, and brother, Jim Buell.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday at Schilling Funeral Home, 702 First Avenue, Sterling. Burial service will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9-11AM Saturday, also at Schilling Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Words cannot express just how much she will be missed.
