Gerald Lee Godwin, age 69 of 653 Baldwin Street, Meadville, passed away at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at the Meadville Medical Center, Grove Street.

He was born in Meadville, Pa. on October 8, 1938 a son of the late Gerald L. and Emma Margaret (Consider) Godwin. On September 5, 1964 he married Vera S. Heme who proceeded him in death on February 9, 1999. He had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and General Electric of Erie, He also had been a carpenter and affiliated with the Carpenter Union . He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served from 1961 – 1963. He was a former member of the Meadville American Legion Post 111.

He is survived by 4 daughters, Shelly Giza of Plant City, Florida, Linda Hill and her finance Brian Hall of Meadville, Lisa Dayton and her husband Paul of Meadville and Brenda Prince and her husband Brian of Meadville. 8 Great Grandchildren: Courtney Parker, Dawn Mosier, Heather Hill, Dominique Giza, Kaylee Giza, Tyler Prince, Brianna Prince and Van Matthew Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Daryl Reed Godwin and a niece and nephew – Cindy and Randy Godwin.


Funeral and committal will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 3:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home, Ltd., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with the Rev. Steve Lamb, pastor of the Sheakeyville United Methodist Church officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Meadville VFW Post 1206. The interment will follow at the Geneva Memorial Cemetery.
