Robert L.  Brocklehurst
Robert L. Brocklehurst, age 72 of 306 Fox Mine Road, Jackson Center (Jackson Twp.) passed way at 8:00 am on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Grove City Medical Center after having suffered an apparent heart attack.



Robert was born in Jackson Center on February 12, 1938 a son of the late Paul and Henrietta (Uber) Brocklehurst. On October 26, 1963 he married the former Roberta J. Hogg who survives. He was a truck driver having been an owner - operator, he also along with his wife operated Affordable Furniture in Sandy Lake following which he went onto be a manufacturers representative for Namaco Mattress Company from which he retired. He and his wife also had owned and operated the Mercer Bowling Lanes, he also has been a substitute mail carrier for the Jackson Center Post Office. He had served as a past president of the Lakeview School Board and also with the Stoneboro Fair Association. He was a member of the Lake Lodge # 434 Free and Accepted Mason's of Sandy Lake ,a former member of the motor patrol of the Zem Zem Shriners, Erie,. He enjoyed harness racing and was a member of the United States Trottting Association.. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He also was a member of the Coolspring Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and being with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and raising sweet corn.



In addition to his wife of 46 years he is survived by two sons Robert Bryan Fry and his wife Darla of Jamestown and Burt Brocklehurst and his wife Lisa of Jackson Center, a daughter Robin Hostetler and her husband Lynn of Mercer, a sister Donna Buckley of Albion, two half sisters; Sally B. Hoovler of Sheakleyville and Linda Ealy of Greenville. 2 brothers John Brocklehurst and his wife Mary Jane of Mercer and Paul Brocklehurst and his wife Aleta of Greenville and a half brother Wayne Brocklehurst of Marionville. 4 grandchildren; Bronwyn Brocklehurst, Burton Brocklehurst, Luke Hostetler and Leah Hostetler.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Lois B. Brocklehurst. a brother David Brocklehurst and an infant sister.



Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Coolspring Presbyterian Church, 787 Coolspring Church Road, Mercer with the Rev. Philip Chalfant pastor of the church officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home, Ltd. 169 Second Street, Fredonia on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The online guest register may be signed at www. rlsfh.com.
