Obituary for Dorothy Betty Limoges (Hebert)

SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Betty Limoges, 87, of Sioux City passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, at Holy Spirit Retirement Center, with family members by her side.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating and concelebrated by Monsignor James Andraschko, the Rev. Shaun Haggerty and Deacon Leon Cantin. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Jefferson, S.D. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating, all at the church. Dorothy was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Jefferson, to Stephen and Caroline (Cyr) Hebert. She grew up and attended school in Jefferson.

On Aug. 19, 1940, she married Bernard Limoges at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson. He passed away May 11, 2004, in Sioux City. Following their marriage, they farmed in Meckling and Hurley S.D. They moved to Sioux City in 1952, and resided here ever since. She was a full-time homemaker, raising eight children.

She was a devout Catholic, praying the rosary everyday. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Riverside. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, playing bingo, telling stories, and family gatherings. Her children and grandchildren were her life.

Survivors include her children, Larry and Dianne Limoges of Sioux City, Rodney and Cheri Limoges of Sioux Falls, S.D., Dale and Darlene Limoges of Granger, Iowa, Barbara and Gene Loreth of Sioux City, Randy and Judy Limoges of Sioux City, Tim and Becky Limoges of Onawa, Iowa, Scott and Patty Limoges of Salix, Iowa, and Todd Limoges and his fiancee, Diamond Jenkins of Dallas, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin Hebert of Garden Grove, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.

Dorothy enjoyed her final years in the comfort and care she received at Holy Spirit.
