Judge Dixon Hood, age 87, passed away at the Haywood Park Community Hospital, Sunday, March 14, 2010 in Brownsville. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. ,Thursday, March 18, 2010 in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Tillman officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Nutbush. Judge Hood was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ed Worsham Masonic Lodge and the Brownsville Rotary Club. Judge Hood was preceded in death by his parents: George and Lena Dixon Hood, a brother: George Hood, two sisters: Peggy Curlin and Doris Hargrove, and his wife: Eloise Bond Hood. He is survived by his son: Bill Hood, Apex, NC; three grandchildren: William "Dixon" Hood III and Ashley Jernigan, both of Jacksonville, NC and Dennis Chandler of Charlotte, NC and one great grandson: Payton Jernigan, Jacksonville, NC.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 5-8 P.M. in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charity of Donor's Choice.
