Obituary for Sylvia Daphne Wehmeyer

Sylvia Daphne  Wehmeyer
Sylvia Daphne Wehmeyer, 93, of Urich, Missouri, formerly of the Brushy and Blairstown, Mo., communities, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.

She was born on December 25, 1915 in the Norris Community, rural Henry County, Missouri, the daughter of Howard Waugh and Gertrude (Albin) Waugh. She was a graduate of the Norris High School and attended Warrensburg State Teachers College.

On January 20, 1939 she married Wilbur Ray Wehmeyer in Blairstown, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1994. Together they raised their family and made their living in the Brushy and Blairstown communities. She was a member of the Lucas United Methodist Church, which she attended faithfully until her health began to fail. She was also a member of the Grand River Homemakers. She truly enjoyed working on the farm, cooking, gardening, sewing, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Ronald G. Wehmeyer and wife Dixie, Urich, Mo.; a daughter, Judy A. Doll and husband Daniel, Urich, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brent Wehmeyer and wife DeAnn, Peculiar, Mo., Doug Doll and wife Melanie, Kansas City, Mo., Dana Aldridge and husband Scott, Liberty, Mo., Devin Doll and wife Jill, Kansas City, Mo., and Marta Stoneking and husband Tim, Urich; eleven great-grandchildren, Turner, Dawson, and Easton Wehmeyer; Emilee Stoneking; Dillon, Alana, and Dayton Doll; Kaylen and Jacob Aldridge; and Drew and Macy Doll; a niece Melissa Waugh and a nephew Wayne Norcross. In addition to her husband Ray, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Raymond Waugh, and a sister Jean Norcross.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Lucas United Methodist Church, south of Urich, Mo. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, Mo. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Clinton Senior Center, and may be left in care of the funeral home.
