Obituary for Eleanor Ricciardi

Mrs. Eleanor (Golden) Ricciardi, 88, of Waterbury died Monday March 24, 2008 at Highland Healthcare Center in Cheshire. She was the widow of Paul Ricciardi.  Mrs. Ricciardi was born May 28, 1919 in Waterbury a daughter of the late Joseph and Nora (McCarthy) Golden and had been a lifelong resident of the East End of Waterbury before residing for the past five years at Highland Healthcare Center, where she was lovingly cared for by a dedicated and caring staff. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Waterbury Catholic High School, Post College and St. Mary€™s Hospital School of Nursing class of 1942. She was a Registered Nurse and later a Private Duty Nurse at St. Mary€™s Hospital, retiring in 1984 after many years of loyal service. She was a member of the St. Mary€™s Hospital Alumni Association and was a former Communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Church.  She leaves her son, the Rev. Robert P. Ricciardi, Pastor of St. Bridget Church in Cheshire; three daughters, Jean Signori and her husband Peter of Bronxville, NY, Judith Calabrese of Waterbury and Nancy Wilson of Wolcott, six granddaughters, Jennifer, Susan, Beth, Sarah, Alexis and Adrienne; two grandsons, Peter and Paul and five great grandchildren, Trevor, Holly, Noelle, Luca and Alessia.  Eleanor embraced her life with a wonderful spirit and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and lifelong friends  A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ricciardi will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church 175 Main Street, Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main Street, Waterbury Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. If desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget Church Building Fund, 175 Main Street Cheshire, CT. 06410.
